Our Charitable Purpose

To support the Glen Eden Pataka Kai movement which provides assistance to the relief of poverty by providing access to free food for those in need.

The Glen Eden Pataka Kai Trust embodies the traditional Māori concept of pātaka kai - a food storehouse that ensures no one in our community goes hungry. We operate on the simple yet powerful principle: "Take what you need, leave what you can."

How We Serve Our Community

We work tirelessly to ensure no one in Glen Eden goes hungry.

Pātaka Kai (Community Pantry)

Our open street pantry is accessible to everyone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No referrals, no forms, no judgment - just food when you need it.

Stocked with fresh produce, non-perishables, and essential items donated by our generous community.

Food Rescue Partnership

We partner with local supermarkets, bakeries, and cafes to rescue quality surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.

Fighting hunger and food waste simultaneously - good for people, good for the planet.

Volunteer-Powered

Our dedicated volunteers (kaitiaki) sort, stock, and manage the pantry with love and care, ensuring fresh food is always available.

Join our team and make a real difference in your neighborhood.

What Makes Pātaka Kai Different?

Dignity First

No forms, no questions, no judgment. We uphold the mana (dignity) of everyone who uses our service.

Community Ownership

This is our pantry - built by neighbors, for neighbors. Everyone contributes what they can.

Always Open

Food emergencies don't wait for business hours. Our pantry is accessible whenever you need it.

Zero Waste Focus

We rescue perfectly good food from landfills and redirect it to those who need it most.
